Gait Analysis
Anatomical models can be used to visualise and understand the complexities of gait analysis. Given kinematic data from a gait lab, we can simulate a subject's gait using our generic models. Joint positions and joint forces can be calculated from gait markers and force plate data. These models allow the gait to be viewed from any angle imaginable which can be useful when, for example, understanding the rotation of hips during walking.
The next level of detail can be added when we are supplied with subject-specific CT data from which we can generate customised musculo-skeletal models. This is particularly useful in understanding gait when our subject has a physical condition such as bone deformities and it can also be used as a tool for surgical planning.
