Patient Centric Model Creation
When a patient needs a joint replacement, they have a CT scan taken so that the doctor can identify the location and extent of the damage. Additional information can be extracted from these scans such as the size and shape of the bones so that more informed decisions can be made on what type of implant is most suitable for this patient.
This movie shows a femur model being customized to a set of patient CT data, producing a patient-specific 3D model. By performing shape analysis on this femur model, it is possible to select an implant that is matched for size and shape to this patient's bone anatomy.
